Attack On Titan: Where Are The Founding Titans And Who Are Their Owners

Attack on Titan has already revealed the origin and possession of the nine founding Titans. In case you missed the subtle hints spread throughout the seasons, here are the origin and wielders of the nine founding Titans in Attack on Titan.

The Founding Titan

The Founding Titan is the core of all the Titans. He was the original creator and the first Subjects of Ymir. Among the nine titans, The Founding Titan is the most important asset to Marley, as he has the power to control other Titans to his will. The Marlian empire often calls the Founding Titan the coordinate, as all titan shifters, mindless titans, and founding titans follow the coordinate orders. In the current arc, Eren Yeager holds the Founding Titan, which was transferred to him by his father, Grisha Yeager.

The Attack Titan

Among all the nine founding titans, the Attack Titan is the most influential and most ruthless one. As the name suggests, the Attack Titan solely uses his strength and skills to fight its enemies. Even though his stats are not that great in terms of superiority, the Attack Titan can fight giant titans with the pure intent to kill. As a part of the original founding titans, the Attack Titan can see the memories of all its inheritors, and he can even see the past and future of all the titans by touching their skin. Eren Yeager is the owner of the attack titan, and he gained these powers through his father, Grisha Yeager, who injected the Attack Titan spinal fluid into Eren’s arm in his childhood.

The Colossal Titan

The credit for being the most badass Titan in the Attack on Titan goes to the Colossal Titan. Standing at 197 feet tall, the giant smoke-emerging Titan is the tallest among all the titans. Colossal Titan’s first appearance was a dramatic one and any anime fan would agree that the Colossal Titan is one of the best antagonists in the history of anime and manga. During the first season, it was revealed that the Marlian spy Bertholdt Hoover was the chosen inheritor of the Colossal Titan power. In the latest and final season of Attack on Titan, a time shift introduced Armin as the new inheritor of the Colossal Titan.

The Female Titan

Attack on Titan Fans jumped out of their seats when they first saw the Female Titan’s wrath in the Shiganshina District, the main cause of the fall of Wall Maria. The female titan was the fittest and swiftest titan of all the founding titans. She was the embodiment of the 9 nine titans, making her the apex predator in the Attack on Titan world. Due to her powers and connection with the nine other titans, the Female Titan adapted each of the titan shifter’s abilities like hardening parts of its skin, like the Armored Titan and using her scream, to draw Pure Titans, similar to the powers of the founding titan. In Attack on Titan season 1, Episode 17, the Female titan makes her appearance and in a fierce battle between Eren and the Female titan, it was revealed that the owner of the titan is their companion Annie Leonhart, who was also working as an undercover agent among Bertholdt and Reiner Braun.

The Armored Titan

The Armored Titan needs no introduction as he was and he is the strongest of the nine founding titans and due to its nature of hand-to-hand combat, Reiner Braun, who is the current holder of the titan, was able to break into the Wall Maria and unchained the mindless titans, hiding inside the walls. Reiner Braun is one of the most important characters in the Attack on Titan franchise as of the last season and shared the insights about Reiner. After Eren, Reiner’s revelations about his duty as a soldier broke the AOT fans as he was brainwashed into believing that Paradis Island was the island of the devils while his inner-self believed the people he met on the island were nothing more than kids, forced to fight with the rest of the world.

The Beast Titan

The Beast Titan entry into the franchise changed everything for the Yeager family. Apart from looking like an ape, the Beast Titan abilities change with its carrier. Right now, Zeke Yeager, Eren’s step-brother, holds the power of the Beast Titan. Zeke Yeager’s version of the Beast Titan doesn’t indulge in hand-to-hand combat. In Attack on Titan season 3, the Beast Titan made its first appearance and it was later revealed that Eren’s father married a Marlian woman, Dina Fritz and Zeke is the product of their marriage. Due to Dina Fritz’s pure bloodline, the Beast Titan is capable of controlling the titans with his scream.

The Jaw Titan

The Jaw Titan is the most terrifying titan of all the titans. Her facial expression can give the strongest-hearted person eerie nightmares. As we have seen in season 1, the Jaw Titan can tear through almost anything. Her claws and fangs can tear anything from metal tanks to concrete walls. Also, due to her small proportion, the Jaw Titan can move faster than any other titan, making her the cunning little devil from the founding titan list. In Attack on Titan season 4 episode 4, the young soldier Porco Galliard inherits the Jaw Titan from Ymir. Porco Galliard is the current holder of the Jaw Titan and in the upcoming episode, one of the four young soldiers will inherit Jaw Titan from Porco Galliard.

The Cart Titan

The Cart Titan is the ultimate killing machine and it would be a shame to not include the Cart Titan in your top 5 titan list. Although the Cart Titan is not the strongest in close-range battles, its powers expand with modern artillery and equipment, making it the walking army of guns and power. From a military perspective, the Cart Titan is the biggest asset because it can carry heavy equipment, tanks, missile launchers, guns, and every mass destruction weapon you can think of. The Cart Titan has a quadrupedal form, making him faster than the other founding titans and other titan shifters. Currency, Pieck Finger, one of Marley’s Warriors, holds the power of the Cart Titan and she uses it for the benefit of the Marlian army.

The Warhammer Titan

The Warhammer Titan is the most mysterious titan of all the nine founding titans and nobody actually knows his whereabouts. So far the latest episode revealed that the Warhammer Titan is hiding inside the Marlian royal family, Tybur. The representer of the Tybur family has not revealed its identity but we know for a fact that its abilities include creating solid weapons out of his skin, hardening ability, and using the same screaming method to draw pure titans for help.

So far the last season lived up to the hype and promised to give a bitter-sweet ending to the Attack on Titan anime and manga series, which ran across for more than nine years and 33 volumes. There are so many things untouched by the series, and the upcoming episode will reveal more about the plans of Eren and how he will eventually become the anti-hero of the series. In a latest interview, Hajime Isayama, creator of Attack on Titan, shared his post-AOT plans, in which he shared his idea of opening a spa.
